About
Brought to you by Serious Parody is Wrestling Manager. If you’ve ever played Football Manager or any other simulation game then you’ll get this. It also helps to be a wrestling fan but even if you’re not it’s still extremely fun. Basically, you start out as a very basic wrestling organisation, all the companies, wrestlers, show names etc are all entirely fictional – though can be edited in iTunes in the games latest update. So, you build up your roster, buy and sell new talent and new match types to put on the best show possible. When you start out you’ll be a backyard wrestling company, pretty basic but its not easy to get the desired ratings. You’ll need to plan carefully and keep an eye on everything to ensure you’re keeping what little fans you have happy. As you progress you’ll work up to TV deals and into those bigger arenas that you can try pack thousands upon thousands of people into.
Positives
Wrestling Manager is extremely easy to setup, you’ll be greeted with various hints throughout the game and when you start you’ll be asked to setup your own wrestling organisation and “manager” name in the user profile screen. Graphically the game looks great, easy on the eyes and the menus are easy to navigate around. The game itself is full of options with in app purchases available to unlock more if you are in a hurry. Setting up shows is simple, you name the show, pick where its held and add promos, matches and other options to attempt to setup the best show possible. Once you’re done the show will start, you’ll see the “Pop-a-tron 3000″ which simulates the matches and shows you who is getting cheered or booed the most. After each match you’ll progress to the next item on the card till the show is finished. You’ll then get a show review and you can progress to the next day. It’s that simple. You can buy and sell wrestlers and promo cards at your leisure and you can even turn your wrestlers from good to bad in an instant.
Negatives
I’ve found it fairly difficult to edit my wrestlers. This won’t affect the final score but it hasn’t been easy to do so far.
Final Verdict
If you’re a fan of sim games and whether you’re a wrestling fan or not you’ll enjoy this game. Its simple to play – though not always easy to get the best ratings – but that’s part of the fun. The graphics and details of the characters are great and although it’s slightly higher priced than many apps, when you see all the content you’ll quickly understand why it’s so expensive. Nevertheless, in my time I’ve played a fair few wrestling simulator games and by far Wrestling Manager has been my favourite, it truely is fantastic. Check it out!
