About
Soundboard is designed to be a radio studios best app, you can customise a soundboard to have your own sounds and play them immediately as you want. You can loop sounds, lock in volume and even fade sounds. You can have multiple sound boards for different purposes. You can truly take production on the road with the iPad version of this Mac app.
Positives
Soundboard is great for podcasters, broadcasters and DJs as it is super easy to play clips, loop them and it even has a ducking button to reduce the sound. The ducking button can be customised with duration, which could be a little longer. You can easily make multiple soundboards, rename them and add specific clips to them. The UI is very good making it very clear how to use from when you started, I especially like when you enter construction mode where you can edit the colours, layout and default behaviour for each clip.
Negatives
Soundboards main issue is getting content into the app, if you have the Mac app you can import soundboard files but if you don’t this can become a bit of a chore. The only way to get content into this app is via iTunes and this is actually syncing rather than file sharing. The clip needs to be put into your iTunes library synced to the device and then added into the app, the process if done regularly could be messy. I’d also like to be able to jump to a position in the clip if its longer than a minute.
Final Verdict
Soundboard is a great app that if the process of importing is improved could be excellent. The app is a little pricey but very capable of replacing a full sound board. The UI is simple and easy to use and really takes advantage of the iPad. Any people that produce content like podcasts should get this app.
